ABOUT US
Today is Friday, 21 July 2017
The Friends of Brimmington Park group was established in November 2005 to further the following aims:
•  To help to secure and promote the conservation and protection of Brimmington Park.
•  To promote its use as a place for quiet, informal enjoyment and study.
•  To help with practical conservation work through voluntary action for the benefit of wildlife and the community under the supervision of, or with the approval of the London Borough of Southwark and its professional officers.
•  To assist in providing an educational experience for the public in the history, natural history and biodiversity of Brimmington Park.

For the past few years we have gathered in the park - usually on a cold autumnal Sunday morning - to plant spring bulbs, whilst in 2008 we planted a small sensory garden in the new Children's Play Area. The first Brimmington Mid-summer Festival took place in the summer of 2006 as a celebration of the warmth and vibrancy of our community and the revival of our local park. The event included performances by local musicians, steel bands, choirs and dance groups. There was a children's fancy dress parade and a balloon race, activities for children and stalls selling food, plants, bric-a-brac, and jewellery. The Festival gets bigger every year and we are currently planning the 2015 event.

On December 1 2006 we held our first Winter Lantern Parade in conjunction with The Livesey Childrens Museum. Local families gathered at the Livesey Museum at 5pm and then paraded to the Park for carol singing and refreshments. This event continued for 3 years until the closure of the Livesey Museum.
